20.1.2020 – Matti Koskelo retired in Arctic Lapland Rally due personal reasons – Arctic Adventure was again worthy of its’ reputation

After exactly one year of pause from rallying, Matti Koskelo returned to snow surface with JanPro Racing Ford Fiesta RS WRC in 55th edition Arctic Lapland Rally which was driven in North Finland at region of Arctic Circle. Matti Koskelo and his co-driver Markku Tuohino competed in the event with youngest WRC-manufacturer driver, Toyota Gazoo Racing Kalle Rovanperä and Mercedes AMG Formula-1 team driver Valtteri Bottas.

In a rally of 10 special stages and 201,73 special stage kilometres Matti and Markku steadly kept 3rd fastest pace in group of World Rally Cars. However after 7th stage he was forced to retire the rally due personal reasons.

Kalle Rovanperä won the event with 3 minutes and 27,6 seconds margin before reigning Finnish Rally Champion Teemu Asunmaa, who drove with Skoda Fabia R5 EVO. Valtteri Bottas ran into troubles and finished the event in 9th position in overall classifications.
